Sudeikis plays David, a small-time marijuana dealer happy selling to housewives and friends, until hes beaten and robbed by some thugs. David has to make a payment to his supplier, Brad , an unctuous jerk. But Brad has a proposal: If David will go to Mexico and bring just a tiny little bit of pot across the border, Brad will forgive his debts and pay him for his troubles.
David isnt thrilled at the prospect, as international drug smuggling wasnt really on his list of life goals. But he doesnt have much choice. Then he hits upon an idea: A family wouldnt be nearly as likely to arouse suspicion. The only problem is that he doesnt have one.
So he recruits one. For <a href=http://www.ferragamo-shoes.com/blog>Ferragamo Men's Shoes</a> his son he gets Kenny , a goofy, awkward kid who lives in Davids building. For a daughter, he goes with Casey , a smart-aleck runaway whose troubles led to David getting robbed in the first place. But the lure of a payoff proves too great. So theyre off, in a tricked-out RV. And theres your SNL skit. Fake Family or something like that.
Things dont go as planned, of course. If they did, there wouldnt be much of a movie. There are twists and double-crosses, and a pretty great night out with super-straight-laced Don and Edie Fitzgerald and their daughter, Melissa .
Much of the humor derives from dysfunction and shock value. Its funny to hear a kid curse. Sorry, it just is. But only for a while. The same goes with the dysfunction. A group of floridly mismatched people is kind of funny, but director Rawson Marshall Thurber eventually heads toward safer ground, and thats not as funny.
Oh, and this: If you have Jennifer Aniston playing a stripper, then you evidently must have her, you know, strip, down to bra and panties. In a hot garage. In Mexico. Under a shower of water. And steam. People would probably ask for their money back otherwise.
